Starting August 14th, Schumacher, an associate with Interim Executive Solutions, will serve as interim executive director.

As was communicated last week, Eric White has decided to leave his position as executive director of the BSA on August 15th, and the BSA will be led in the coming months by an interim executive director. Starting August 14th, Kimberlee Schumacher, an associate with Interim Executive Solutions, will serve as interim executive director. Kimberlee will be responsible for day-to-day operations and ensuring that our staff and board are effective and supported, and that our programs and functions are sound and sustainable. She will help identify actions that further our mission and deepen our commitment to meeting the needs of our members and the broader community we serve. In the fall, Kimberlee will also work with the board to develop a process for selecting the next executive director.

Kimberlee is a seasoned nonprofit executive with more than 20 years of experience in leadership positions at health and human service organizations, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, the Jewish Federation of the North Shore, Combined Jewish Philanthropies, and Big Brothers Big Sisters Affiliate in Boston. She has served as an interim executive director, interim chief strategy officer, and CEO, leading organizations through succession planning, mergers and acquisitions, and significant growth. Throughout her career, Kimberlee has trained and coached hundreds of nonprofit CEOs and board leaders on how to build healthy organizations through strong strategy; finance; diversity, equity, and inclusion; fundraising; governance; and operations practices. We believe that Kimberlee has the skills, leadership, and emotional intelligence needed to help the BSA advance its vision, while also supporting us in selecting new permanent leadership.

Interim leadership is a great time to reassess many aspects of our work, including defining the characteristics we need in our next leader, and we hope to take full advantage of this opportunity. Starting in the fall, we will begin the search for the new permanent executive director. The search process will be transparent and open, and will take into consideration a diversity of perspectives within the community, to help us locate an individual who will best lead the BSA in its continued evolution.

We look forward to welcoming Kimberlee soon! Kimberlee and Eric will be working together to make the transition as smooth as possible. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Andrea Love FAIA, BSA/AIA President

Bennet Heart, BSA Foundation Chair
