Attend a public hearing on February 25 at 4:00 pm or send written comments.

City Councilor Lydia Edwards has filed a Home Rule Petition to overhaul the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA). Her suggestions call out the need to reconsider how development projects are reviewed, who reviews them and how this information is kept and publicly shared. The petition also does away with the requirement that an architect sit on the board.

Now is the time to let our city leaders know that architects are vital to the ZBA. You can speak at the hearing or send written comments.

On February 25th at 4:00 pm Boston City Council will hold a public hearing on the petition at:
Boston City Hall, Fifth Floor, Iannella Chamber
1 City Hall Square
Boston, MA 02201

People can send comments to [email protected] and those comments will be entered into the record and given to the councilors on the committee.

If you previously submitted testimony, kindly consider updating it and submitting so it's visible to new councilors and on the record for Docket #0233, petition for a special law re: An Act Relative to the Zoning Board of Appeal.

The public notice for the hearing can be found here: boston.gov/public.

Reach Jennifer Effron at [email protected] with questions.
