The Earl R. Flansburgh Young Designers Award recognizes design excellence by an emerging designer under 40. Join 2021 recipient, Parke MacDowell AIA of Payette for a presentation of his work and how fabricating and prototyping not only enhances ensuing designs, but also bolsters equity and adds value.

As an architect, Parke leverages his background in construction to inform design and project management. Committed to embedding fabrication within architectural practice, Parke uses models, prototypes, and full-scale mock-ups to help all parties understand the problem and have a voice in its resolution. With a special interest in the community-building potential of architecture, Parke leads numerous pro-bono initiatives positioning design as a powerful tool for outreach, community engagement and building for the future.

Parke uses fabrication to expand the agency of our profession: In his own words, “Making clarifies ideas. Clear ideas enable decisions. Decisions move projects forward.”

The BSA Honors and Awards Committee, will moderate the conversation.
