BSA Gingerbread Competition & Exhibition Wraps Up Another Successful Year
At the beginning of the month, the BSA launched its annual Gingerbread Design Competition & Exhibition. This exhibition took place in a hybrid format, which means we featured entries both at BSA Space and on our website.
The competition theme this year was "Home Sweet Home," which invited (edible) explorations of home, housing, and domesticity. The theme complements the recently launched exhibition, Imaginations of Home, which focuses on housing models centered around ideas of affordability, sustainability, and accessibility and encourages viewers to think expansively about what home and housing mean to them.
All entries were judged by the following panel of experts:
- Dinara Kasko, Pastry Chef and Owner of Jonquils Cafe & Bakery in Back Bay
- Ray Demers, Senior Director, Design Leadership at Enterprise Community Partners
- Wandy Pascoal NOMA, Housing Innovation Design Fellow at the Housing Innovation Lab and Boston Society for Architecture
In addition to being a professionally juried competition, this exhibition also functions as a fundraiser for the BSA via donation-based voting. We are so appreciative of everyone who donated to the cause and are pleased to announce that this year's gingerbread exhibition raised just over $7,000. Thank you for your support!
