October is World Architecture Month and we're gearing up to celebrate for the whole month. The time is fast approaching for the BSA's second annual Wagdy Anis Symposium on Building Science. Ahead of the event, the BSA asked speakers to share their thoughts on the future of building science, their memories of Anis, and what they're most anticipating about the two-day symposium.

We cannot meet our climate goals without utilizing our greatest built and cultural assets: existing buildings. With many cities aiming to become carbon-free by 2050—and, in Boston, with 85 percent of the floorspace the city will need already built—we must embrace existing buildings as critical to climate action. Throughout the summer, the BSA community explored approaches to existing buildings as climate solutions, and underscored the urgency with which we need to develop and share strategies in order to respond to our climate crisis. In the 1990s, Wagdy Anis developed a high-performance wall section known among his colleagues as the Wagdy Wall. For the past two decades, versions of this wall have been implemented successfully throughout the design and construction industry. Join us September 22–23 for the Wagdy Anis Symposium on Building Science, a two-day hybrid symposium in celebration of recent innovations across the building enclosure field.
