Passive House Design
Designing your next home to the Passive House standard maximizes comfort, healthy indoor air, durability, and energy efficiency, while minimizing your carbon footprint. Passive House level energy performance is the result of 1) thoughtful design, 2) a super-insulated building envelope, 3) high efficiency systems, and 4) renewable energy, prioritized in that order, and all working together as a system.
We Stand Together to Stop Asian Hate Crimes
The Boston Society for Architecture stands with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in the fight against anti-Asian racism. We are horrified by the shootings on March 16, and by the racist actions that have allowed this kind of targeted violence against minority groups for generations.
Architects Voice Strong Support for Climate Bill & Opt-In Net Zero Stretch Code
The BSA strongly supports the Climate Bill. In partnership with AIA MA, a letter was recently sent to Governor Baker. As we wait for Governor Baker to respond we must also be ready to advocate for the Climate Bill and especially the net zero code provisions. If this goes back to the legislators or gets vetoed, AIA MA and its local chapters will be looking to membership to share their support by reaching out to their state legislators.
Moody Nolan: AIA Firm of the Year
In today's climate of racial reckoning, it's fitting for Moody Nolan, the nation's largest African American-owned architecture firm, to be honored with the 2021 Architecture Firm Award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA). The annual award is the highest honor the AIA bestows on an architecture practice. The award recognizes a firm that has consistently produced distinguished architecture for at least 10 years. This is the first time a Black-owned architecture firm has ever received the award in the AIA's 58 years of conducting the annual recognition.
