Remembering Robert E. Pepi AIA Emeritus
Robert E. Pepi, 89, a longtime resident of Framingham, died peacefully on Tuesday August 30, 2022. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John & Marianna (Sortino) Pepi, and the beloved husband of 44 years to Maria (Hackett) Pepi. He worked in Worcester as an Associate Architect for Kubitz and Pepi Architectural Firm for a few years before starting his own successful practice.

With great sadness, HMFH has announced the death of one of HMFH’s founding partners, Stephen Friedlaender FAIA. He cared deeply about design and engaged fully with clients, consultants, and colleagues in seeking the solutions that were elegant, innovative and appropriate.
Remembering Michael Hicks AIA Emeritus
David Michael Hicks, known as Michael, died from Lewy Body Dementia at the age of 77 on June 6 at Harbor Point, a memory care community in Barnstable. Michael was President of the BSA from 2000 to 2001. After receiving a Master in Architecture from Harvard University, Michael worked for several architectural firms before becoming a co-founder of a firm, currently known as DHK.
Remembering Jill Verhosek AIA
Jill Verhosek AIA passed away surrounded by family and friends on April 30th, 2022. A Senior Associate at Goody Clancy, a Boston design firm, Jill was an essential member of the firm’s preservation practice group and the technical advisor on their most prestigious and complex projects throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.
Remembering John Louis Cummings
John Louis Cummings, 88, of Hudson and formerly a longtime resident of Wellesley, died on Saturday, January, 29, 2022 at the Artisan in Hudson after a long battle with Lewy body dementia. An Air Force veteran who later worked as an architect, he worked at Carl Koch in Boston and later was a partner at The Architects Collaborative in Cambridge prior to opening his own practice before retiring.
Remembering Dorwin AJ Thomas FAIA
Dorwin Arthur Jackson Thomas passed away peacefully on April 23, 2021. Thomas was an active member of the AIA since 1972 and served as an officer in three AIA components. He also served as chairman of the AIA Design-Build knowledge community in 2003, 2004, and 2005.
