See the possible impact of “future-deckers” in Boston and why that matters in Past, Present, Future-Decker. Tour around the 3D model created by high school students in It Takes a Village. Join a class of Wentworth architecture students in reimagining Blue Hill Avenue in Dorchester in Weaving the Urban Fabric, and finally, view the winning designs from the Greater Boston Affordable Housing Competition put together by joint teams of graduate students and design professionals. In the first stage of the selection process, a weekend-long preliminary design competition is held. Finalists from this competition go on to compete in the second stage, a 10-day competition culminating in a design presentation to a distinguished jury in Boston.

Oct 27, 2020 – Jan 31, 2021Future-DeckerThe Future Decker exhibition is part of an ongoing exploration and documentation of the ways in which existing triple deckers have shaped the City of Boston, while inviting residents to envision the future of this iconic New England vernacular building typology.Built en masse mostly between the 1880s and 1930s, the triple decker was an affordable entry point for many immigrant families who came to call Boston home. Explore residents’ perspectives and experiences with triple deckers and possible new ways to re-integrate them into the fabric of the city.
