Climate change continues to threaten communities worldwide. Issues of racial and economic equity are causing many to re-evaluate practices that have been customary for centuries. And Boston has its first elected female mayor of color. At this crucial moment, the BSA is hosting "Intersections: Equity, Environment + The City" in conjunction with BSA Women in Design and BosNOMA.

George James Kelso Jr. AIA died on August 26, 2021 at the age of 83. Kelso held a Master in Architecture degree from Harvard GSD and designed several prominent buildings and commercial facilities in the Boston, Vermont and New Hampshire areas.

Throughout the country, levels of food insecurity rose in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and conditions in Massachusetts have been no exception. While things have slowly begun to improve in 2021, hunger is still a concern state-wide as vulnerable residents grapple with circumstances caused in part by glaring systemic issues. To address them, the BSA and its members have put forward some design solutions.

Kenneth Bailey, Keller Easterling, and Billy Fleming will give keynote presentations at Intersections: Equity, Environment + The City, a multi-day symposium focused on participatory design processes in Boston. Speakers will discuss their work as it relates to to the process of crafting spaces and places situated within one of this century's most pressing issues: the threat of climate change and its inequitable impact.

For the first time, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) is sending architects to the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26), taking place in Glasgow, Scotland from October 31–November 12, 2021.

An interview with Hansy Better Barraza AIA. This interview is part of the BSA's Profile series on Hispanic and Latinx architects in the profession, conducted during Hispanic Heritage Month. Hansy is one of the 2021 Women in Design Award of Excellence winners and is a featured speaker at the upcoming symposium, Intersections: Equity, Environment + the City.
