Read about the first Arch/Design High School Internship Fair for the BSA x PIC program that was held at the BSA Space on Wednesday, April 24. This event was organized to bring students and firms together in person, get students acquainted with the hiring firms in an inviting atmosphere, and allow students attending to participate in a series of first-round interviews.

The 32nd annual KidsBuild! was held at the Boston Society for Architecture on Saturday, April 6, and Sunday, April 7, 2024. Nearly 800 young designers and families explored the possibilities of architecture, planning, design, and construction.

The BSA recently hosted Architecture/Design Thinking Week, a collaboration with the Boston Private Industry Council (PIC) that offers interested Boston Public School (BPS) students paid career exploration during February school vacation week. Each day of this four-day workshop, firms take turns facilitating activities and providing hands-on support as students work through a multi-stage design prompt.

Through the summer internship program, the BSA, in collaboration with the Boston Private Industry Council, is enhancing its goals by providing Boston-area high school students not only an opportunity to think about a career in architecture but also an avenue toward pursuing the profession.

During the 2017-2018 school year, when the BSA first participated in the Boston Public Schools (BPS) kindergarten construction unit, no one envisioned that a pandemic would hit and transform learning—both during and after the epidemic. Six years later, the BSA's early childhood architecture curriculum has not only expanded across Boston, but also serves as a model for young children to learn collaboratively and to reimagine the world around them.

Whether with Legos or Lincoln Logs, Erector Sets or basic building blocks, every child at some point dreams of building big. Continuing a tradition lasting more than a quarter century, the BSA brought those dreams to life this past weekend.
